Barbeau et Barbotine
the delicate touch of the brush

Virginie Sanglas, the creator of Barbeau & Barbotine, left nothing up to fate when she took on her career of an artist. “I was determined, studying at art school. Then, my passion for tablewear led me to learn porcelain painting techniques. I instantly fell in love with the material – it is white, pure, fine, and transparent, both solid and fragile. Painting and firing pieces, discovering the transformation and revelation of colors every time you open the kiln makes this art a magical fire.”

Unique pieces

To ensure high-quality white finished pieces, the Barbeau & Barbotine workshop works with Limoges porcelain. The workshop can also make molds to order and can offer completely exclusive white porcelain forms. In addition, the workshop can produce unique, customized table sets with a wide variety of patterns and themes (animal, floral, contemporary), and a range of colors that is nearly infinite.

Artisanal know-how

Also, all of her creations are hand-made in the Puteaux workshop, using fine Limoges porcelain, following the purest tradition of porcelain painting. Virginie explains that for her, “this French art includes several artisanal methods that are sometimes ancestral, with expertise and secrets being handed down over several generations. It is also a combination of French-style expertise and savoir-vivre. The art of entertaining and tablewear are a showcase for many crafts, not to mention the art of catering.”

The expertise of Barbeau & Barbotine is not only for individuals. Major French luxury brands have also called on Virginie to paint gorgeous trinket bowls. Five-star Parisian hotels have also placed orders, and the workshop has made porcelain beads for a celebrated Parisian pastry chef. Following the success of this partnership, other Parisian chefs and pastry chefs have contacted Virginie to collaborate in the future. The Barbeau & Barbotine name has even started circulating abroad in shops from Taiwan to Palm Beach, Florida. Furthermore, the workshop has just been approached by interior designers in the Persian Gulf region!
