Oscar Lucien Ono
illuminates the Latin Paradise

The Paradis Latin, a famous Parisian cabaret, is being renovated with flair under the direction of Oscar Lucien Ono, set designer and scenographer. With his interior design and decoration agency “Maison Numéro 20”, Oscar Lucien Ono unites his disciplines in the style of the original designers. The versatile creator takes inspiration from far and wide, including hotel and apartment projects and restaurants. The interior designer has recently converted the Paradis Latin into a contemporary temple of glamour.

A renovation with a historical dimension

The Paradis Latin has a rich history. The basement room of the theatre nicknamed the “literary water trough”, has brought together writers like Balzac or Alexandre Dumas. In 1870, a fire ravaged the area and it was rebuilt from the ground up in 1889. France was preparing to host the Universal Exposition, and the Paradis Latin was preparing to become a place of pleasure. Gustave Eiffel built the theatre and gave it its famous metal structure. Since then, not only all of Paris, but the whole world has come to admire the building with its large dimensions like a cathedral and its charming dancers…

It is easy to imagine the champagne flowing freely and the laughter bursting into this luminous and tucked away universe. Italian crystal chandeliers, the clink of bronze and cut glass being filled up again and again. Beautiful details wherever the eye settles.

Gold at your fingertips

In this party hideaway, Oscar Lucien updates tradition. He has adorned the walls with oversized mosaic frescoes. The Italian company Sicis has reproduced Judith I by Gustav Klimt in 24-carat gold mosaics. It is an understatement to say that gold dominates! Patinated, matt, shiny, in the form of a fabric, it is omnipresent. The carpet designed by Maison Numéro 20 is black with a golden floral motif, reminiscent of the Klimt reproduction and the golden Napoleonic dome. In this sophisticated jungle (complete with Nobilis tiger cushions and feathered Venetian fabrics), Kamel Ouali stages “L’Oiseau Paradis.” A beautiful spectacle.

The magic is real, the decor seems to have been there forever in this place that is part of our collective memory.
