LUNA, 15 years of an iconic star

LUNA is a spherical satellite, radiating with light, capturing all attention. It is a changing moon that multiplies to inhabit space. LUNA is also an iconic luminaire that has been enhancing interior decor for 15 years, created by Atelier Alain Ellouz, and celebrated both in France and abroad. This luminaire also showcases the expertise of the art craftsmen at the Atelier when it comes to working with alabaster. Since 2005, Alain Ellouz, a stone sculptor, and his team of 35 individuals have been magnifying alabaster and rock crystal. Among the Atelier’s star creations, LUNA comes in various custom versions. This alabaster suspension stands out with its clean lines, enhancing the stone, much like a precious jewel. Overall, it’s a remarkable piece of work that has captivated Signatures Singulières Magazine.

Custom design of LUNA by art craftsmen

A rod, a sphere… At first glance, this pure alabaster luminaire appears to be simple. However, alabaster is a stone that demands precision work. The alabaster spheres are hand-carved and hollowed to achieve an unprecedented finesse. Ultimately, the stone’s translucent patterns are revealed through the art craftsmen’s expertise, followed by the integration of invisible LED backlighting. It’s the material itself that emits weightless light. Moreover, the client has an infinite constellation of configurations to choose from. The proposed compositions of these alabaster suspensions vary based on the globe’s diameters, as well as the number and height of the hooks. Regardless of the dimensions, alabaster always exhibits a varying appearance depending on the integrated lighting. LUNA multiplies itself, and the facets of alabaster move and enchant the observer’s gaze.
