Charles Belle is a French painter born in 1956. The essence of his work lies in drawing. From his first works, his subjects have been landscapes, people, and everything that was ordinary in his environment.

In order to help us slow down our gaze and thus capture the depth of things, Charles Belle paints. Whatever the subject, his works are charged with the strength contained in each flower, each leaf, each being. The motive of his painting is abstract, the colour is radiant and the formats are often monumental. A perpetual movement inhabits his work. Nothing is ever definitive. The paintings present in the studio are all in progress, he puts them away, forgets them, then takes them back and covers them up. They then serve him as a base, humus, food to continue and create. Charles Belle is in the language of gesture and the body. Watching him work, one can perceive the impulse of a painter who acts.
