Interior designers combine contemporary and Haussmannian style in an incredible way.
From Madrid, where he is fine-tuning hotel projects, Oscar Lucien Ono (Maison Numéro 20) presents with Karim Ceballos (KJS Architecture) a little gem of an apartment to Signatures Singulières magazine. Aesthetic and technological, this collaborative project reveals many unexpected features.

A completely redesigned apartment
Sometimes Oscar is where you don’t expect him. The curling eye, the mischievous smile, the voice of honey, everything is already said, or almost! Indeed, Oscar Lucien Ono has embarked on an adventure very different from what he usually does. For we are in the heart of Paris, on Avenue de Wagram this time. And the request was for a contemporary decoration within a typically Haussmann-style apartment! All with a complete redesign of the apartment’s floor plan.
Taking down load-bearing walls, concrete and precious materials, the duo reorganized this 300 m² apartment from top to bottom for an experienced businessman and his family. Indeed, Hervé has been living here for many years. One day he became the owner and decided to redo everything, to his taste and according to his lifelong dreams. A new family den will be born with large reception areas, a cinema room and professional sound installation throughout the apartment.
Pop Decoration
Oscar and Karim were given complete freedom to introduce colour. And the duo did not hold back! In the entrance hall, it is the green of the vitrophanie inspired by the work of Roy Lichtenstein. And the soft yellow of Gaetano Pesce’s “La Mama” armchair. In one of the lounges, it is the electric blue of the “Boa” sofa by the Campana brothers for Edra. In the cinema room, the Ferrari red of the leather armchairs livens the space. All these colours make the place cheerful.
Signed or custom-made furniture
The selected design is sharp. Here a Platner armchair by Knoll, a sculpture from the Avant-Scène Gallery, the Boa sofa by the Campana brothers for Edra. Or the Bird armchair by Harry Bertoia for Knoll and the Murano crystal vase by Daniela Busarello. Furniture and objects are enhanced by a concrete floor with wooden inserts by Francesco Passanitti.
Oscar and Karim have pushed perfection by making custom-made curtains that discreetly take on different tones depending on the room. Their beige base can be combined with yellow, blue etc. Finally, Maison Numéro 20 has also designed numerous pieces of furniture and storage units.
Precious materials
Oscar Lucien Ono and Karim Ceballos introduced Brazilian tropical wood (sucupira) which they stained grey. But also silks, velvets, Nobilis fabric and leather (see lined doors). Raw wood and Brazilian Mirage granite from Spadaccini dress the kitchen. A jewel of an apartment, they tell you!
