Hugues Chevalier, Art Deco inspired furniture
For more than forty years, Hugues Chevalier has been creating top-of-the-range contemporary furniture. More specifically, they reinvent Art Deco furniture; it is the DNA of the brand.

Handcrafted and aesthetic expertise
The name Hugues Chevalier is synonymous with luxurious leathers, precious woods and rich details. Yet also of all the care taken to ensure comfort and the use of expert craftsmen. Hugues Chevalier pays homage to the work of the designer-assemblers of the 1930s and designs each piece of furniture as a unique item.
The Art Deco style revisited
When, in 1978, Hugues Chevalier created his first models of contemporary sofas, he was inspired by and chose to revisit the Art Deco style. This aesthetic bias, against the trend of the design of the time, quickly earned him recognition as one of the best creators of high-end contemporary furniture.
The highest quality, as is French tradition
The Hugues Chevalier brand perpetuates the tradition of French-style aestheticism. Thus, the “Charleston” and “Dominique” sofas, elevated to the rank of design icons, are still flagship models, as is the emblematic “Ying” armchair. To keep tradition alive, the Hugues Chevalier brand has chosen to expand its range. As a result, it offers new high-end contemporary furniture and decorative objects, the fruit of the work of talented designers. They create coffee tables and sideboards with refined lines, as well as elegant desks. They also design bedroom furniture and original sofas. All these creations are adapted to the uses of the new century.
Bespoke furniture
The brand favors bespoke solutions to meet the requirements of individual customers. Therefore, again and again, only luxurious furniture with a unique design make up the new collections. Customization is key. Thus, there are no less than eight wood colors. The finishes can be matte, satin or glossy, and the metal inserts can be bronze or chrome. The coverings are made of leather or fabric. An in-house design office, specializing in interior design, accompanies all customers at every stage of the process. This ranges from the design to the implementation of development projects in France and abroad (hotels, head offices, embassies, etc.).
Development with an international focus
In 2013, Hugues Chevalier joined the Bertrand family group, created by Mr. Hubert Taïeb in 1965. Bertrand has been taking stylish furniture to the highest level for more than 50 years and serves a prestigious international clientele. This integration has been fruitful. The cabinetmakers, upholsterers and varnishers in the group’s workshops now bring their expertise in high quality goods to Hugues Chevalier creations.
On the strength of its international success, the Parisian brand is opening new showrooms abroad. Since 2014, Hugues Chevalier has opened showrooms in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, in addition to the London, Berlin, Geneva, Chicago, Moscow, Beirut, Hong Kong and China showrooms. The next openings will be in Dubai, Vietnam, Singapore and New York.
Hubert Taïeb has passed on his passion for decoration and luxury to his two sons, Frédéric and Laurent. The duo now runs the Hugues Chevalier and Bertrand Prestige brands. Eager to carry on the legacy, the two brothers have surrounded themselves with a new team of designers and are carrying the French-style aestheticism with conviction far beyond our borders.
