Based in the small village of Chierry in the Île-de-France region, the Ateliers Lemaître have been designing bespoke decorations, interior fittings and hard coverings in natural stone for over fifty years. Founded by Jean Lemaître, this marble masonry has established itself as one of the leading figures in French arts and crafts among an international clientele. Faithful to the exceptional know-how handed down from generation to generation, it brings the finest blocks of stone to life. Alongside its top-of-the-range creations for decoration and furniture, the marble masonry practices the art of restoration. The French company is often entrusted with pieces from another century, which it breathes new life into. Ateliers Lemaître, marble as a heritage

Founded in 1971, the Ateliers Lemaître are a family enterprise that has been run by three generations. With one common denominator: an unwavering passion for marble! As specialist in decoration and stylish furniture, the marble masonry shapes and restores pieces of marble. Its eclectic clientele includes cabinet-makers, carpenters, interior architects, designers and antique dealers. They all turn to the Ateliers Lemaître for their in-depth knowledge of natural materials. In addition to marble, the company works with stone, onyx, granite, quartzite, ceramics and precious stones. Its long experience has enabled it to forge special relationships with the most prestigious suppliers and quarries. That’s why the Ateliers Lemaître have a permanent stock of rare stones and materials, just waiting to be used on the top-of-the-range projects for which they were made.

Maintaining historical know-how

For over half a century, the Ateliers Lemaître have developed a fine knowledge and unrivalled mastery of stone. As a team, they strive to transform the mineral into exceptional pieces for unique projects. To satisfy the requirements of its prestigious customers, the marble masonry manages all the stone work in-house. From the design office to installation, from sawing to cutting, from polishing to moulding and sculpting, Ateliers Lemaître is able to meet every demand. It’s no coincidence that their marble decorations adorn the Coco restaurant at the Opéra Garnier, the Paris Society group’s Gigi Paris and Val d’Isère restaurants, The Berkeley hotel in London, Olivier Rousteing’s office at Balmain and a rooftop on the Champs-Elysées. These are just some of the settings where these French creations will take centre stage!

Using digital technology to perpetuate a craft industry

As the guardian of rare French know-how, the Ateliers Lemaître have always been committed to making the human hand sacred. But defending exceptional craftsmanship often means adapting to new technologies. In regard to, marble masonry is no exception. Aware of the development opportunities provided by digital technology, the Ateliers Lemaître have been quick to equip their marble works with the very best technology. In particular, the French company has acquired 5-axis and 7-axis digital machines. By combining traditional and digital tools, it has considerably broadened its range of possibilities and opened the way to more delicate shapes and decorative accessories. Whether it’s an aeroplane wing or a bird’s beak, Ateliers Lemaître’s creativity is the only limit!
