PLENDI by VINCI Construction, the Luxury Entity of the Group
With 30 years of experience, VINCI Construction has been behind significant and renowned projects such as the Fondation Louis Vuitton, the renovations of La Samaritaine and Roland Garros, among others. In the same vein, PLENDI by VINCI Construction assists professionals and individuals in the rehabilitation of exceptional properties.
The strength of PLENDI? lies in its years of experience in construction, attentiveness to its clients, and the application of its exacting standards and know-how to serve a creative vision, all while offering innovative solutions. Their expertise is fully rooted in the luxury industry and is highly appealing. Proof of this can be seen in numerous exceptional projects signed by PLENDI, including the Hotel Carlton, the Mandarin Oriental, the Shangri-La, the Cartier boutique, and the new Carita Beauty House. One key to their success is undoubtedly knowing their capabilities and resources and committing to a limited number of projects.
Projects Led Hand in Hand with Renowned Architects
For each project, the general contractor PLENDI by VINCI Construction works closely with the architects and interior decorators responsible for the project. It’s a team effort, as Mathilde Dion, the Development Director of the brand, explains, “We (PLENDI) intervene from the structural work to the chosen finishes.” With its teams and extensive network of experts, PLENDI oversees the project from start to finish.
PLENDI has also been involved in numerous exceptional establishments, such as the first Bvlgari Hotel in Paris, designed by the Valode & Pistre architecture agency, and decorated by the Italian agency Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. The general contractor has also collaborated with other prominent names in architecture and design, including Sybille de Margerie, Pierre-Yves Rochon, Gilles & Boissier, Tristan Auer, Liaigre, and Laura Gonzalez, talents you can find in Signatures Singulières Magazine!
Ecological Transition at the Heart of Each Project
Another increasingly significant concern for PLENDI, in addition to providing excellent services, is to construct with less impact on the planet. Mathilde Dion declares, “We work harder to produce better!” Indeed, the VINCI group possesses numerous tools to align its projects as closely as possible with ecological principles. This is a culture that drives the group, and PLENDI aims to incorporate it into each of its projects by acting as a pioneer and organizing events, like the “Les rencards du beau” meetings. “The idea is to invite inspiring individuals to discuss their innovations,” Mathilde shares. Their commitment goes even further, as PLENDI by VINCI Construction was also a partner in the “Amour Vivant” biennial, presented by the Association for Sustainable Design, which took place in Paris last October. The goal was to highlight innovations related to bio-sourced and petrochemical-free materials. Building with meaning is also the hallmark of PLENDI.
Interview with Mathilde Dion
Development Director of the PLENDI by VINCI Construction brand.
How did the brand come about?
Mathilde Dion : in 2015, the construction industry was facing a crisis, and we were looking to reinvent ourselves. At VINCI Construction, we had some experience with high-end projects, but they represented only a small part of our portfolio. We had the ambition to focus on these projects, as they inspired us. To do so successfully and improve our skills, we decided to create a dedicated entity. This is how PLENDI by VINCI Construction, the first luxury brand in construction, was born.
What services does PLENDI offer?
Mathilde Dion: We’re a general contractor, which means we’re the orchestra conductor for all the subcontractors, craftsmen and artisans on a site. Although we’re best known for the quality of our finishes and our experience in managing complex projects, one of our great strengths is our structural work, which we do with the help of our site workers. We know Parisian basements inside out, and often excavate them to add swimming pools, nightclubs or technical facilities. Our customers come to us for our knowledge of beauty, but they choose us above all for our technical expertise.
Can you describe a typical project process?
Mathilde Dion : at the project’s inception, whether for an individual or a company, the client defines the project’s goals with the chosen architect. PLENDI by VINCI Construction then steps in for the implementation of the work and collaborates with its network of craftsmen and artisans. The brand has around fifty expert partners, including notable figures like the marble specialist Jean-Pierre Ildei, the plasterer Sofrastyl, Ateliers Gohard for painting and gilding, Atelier Midavaine for lacquer, Lison de Caunes for straw marquetry, and many others.
What is your most significant project to date?
Mathilde Dion : tall our projects are important and resonate with PLENDI. However, if I had to choose one, I would mention the Mandarin Oriental in Paris. Interestingly, the teams at the Mandarin Oriental entrusted us with their project when we had no prior experience in luxury or the hotel industry. This was in 2010. It was a very challenging project but also very educational. In fact, this project sparked our curiosity and taste, motivating us to take this path. A few years later, the Mandarin Oriental contacted us again to take charge of the project at the Mandarin Oriental in London. We later collaborated on the suites of the Parisian address. A genuine partnership was formed.
What are your ongoing projects?
Mathilde Dion : we are currently working on a magnificent private residence on the Quais Malaquais, as well as a private residence in Juan-Les-Pins. We are also renovating all the rooms and suites of a luxury Parisian palace. It’s a flagship of the hotel industry, but I must keep it hush because the work is being done while the hotel remains open. Our value lies in seamlessly blending into the surroundings. As you can understand, our projects are highly confidential. But if you happen to be near Place Vendôme, we are working on a flagship store there.
